A mobile app helping busy students to socialise.

During the research phase, interviews were conducted with three university students after identifying a key pain point: working students often struggle to balance socializing, rest, work, and study. The interviews aimed to better define this issue and explore related findings from earlier desk research, such as the social challenges faced by lower-income students. Although each participant experienced these struggles differently, their responses highlighted that this is a widespread issue affecting a diverse range of students.

A user persona was created from interview insights to guide the design process and ensure user needs were addressed. A follow-up user journey revealed that scheduling meetups through shared clubs was a common solution, leading to the idea of a feature that suggests clubs and societies based on user availability to simplify social planning.

Following the research phase, a product prototype was developed based on a design system that reflects the brand values of friendliness, efficiency, and ease. A mostly neutral colour palette was used, with bold red and pink accents to emphasize the friendly tone. The prototype enables users to input their schedules and receive recommendations for events and groups that align with their availability, as well as join those activities. This directly addresses user needs by simplifying the process of socializing and connecting with others through tailored suggestions.
